Who am I?

Hi, my name is Ripken Walker! I am a fourth-year student at the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, GA studying Music Technology. I am about to complete my B.S. in Music Technology, and will be finishing my M.S. in Music Technology in May 2024. My life revolves around music, and I am frequently performing, recording, and editing music for myself and other artists. I am primarily a drummer/percussionist, but also play piano and a little bit of bass guitar.

Current Work

Something I have become increasingly passionate about is multimedia performance technology. My research at Georgia Tech is currently focused on creating a microcontroller-based lighting control system within Ableton Live and Max for Live that can allow users to program and utilize reactive and interactive lighting for performances or installations.

Videos of some my work

DMX drumming version 1

This video demonstrates the original version of my interactive DMX lighting system that responds to my live drumming. This video utilized the ENTTEC DMX USB Pro, Max for Live, and Ableton for Live.

DMX Drumming Version 2

This video demonstrates an updated version of my interactive DMX lighting system. This video shows pre-programmed and real-time lighting changes controlled with Teensy 4.1, Max for Live, and Ableton Live. This was the first implementation I made using a microcontroller instead of a pre-configured DMX to USB interface.

Wavine Studios Live Session

This video was recorded at my home studio. I recorded and edited the video, and also recorded, mixed, and mastered the audio.

Live at Wavine studios

This video was also filmed at my home studio. In this series, we bring local song writers from around Atlanta and record their songs for the world to enjoy.
